| What are you doing for christmas this year and do you do a very traditional christmas?? Do you open your pressies on Christmas Eve or on Christmas morning?? What do you eat on christmas night?? I am having Chirstmas at my folks in laws as per usual as mine are a wee bit too far away just for a chirstmas meal (New Zealand). I dont like the christmas food here much, hate oysters, hate salmon, not too keen on foie gras either. So we are having turkey with "marrons" especially for me!! I miss having my nice christmas ham and baked dinner even though in Australia sometimes we were having our christmas dinner in over 30 degrees heat!! As for presents, I guess my son will open some presents on Christmas Eve after the meal then when he goes to sleep I will put out some under the tree for him to open in the morning and he has his christmas stocking to open too with lots of goodies in it. I also put out a plate of cookies and some milk for santa and a bucket of water for the thirsty reindeers. Kids just love seeing the hoove prints in the yard and the bucket drunk and the cookies nibbled. | |

| For Christmas, I'm going to visit my parents, sister and brother in Grenoble.
We are always celebrating Christmas Eve with food from the sea (oysters, salmon, srimps etc...) When my sister and my brother are asleep, I help my parents to wrap up the rest of the presents and then we put them under the Christmas tree.
On Christmas Day, we'll eat a ham cooked with honey. This year, I'm in charge of the dessert and I'll make a traditionnal Christmas chocolate and orange cake.

| R-M > No comment... For me, all starts before Xmas: my girlfriend doesn't celebrate Xmas, but they celebrate winter solstice (the 21st of December). So I will do that with her family (and presents ) Then, we both go to my home to celebrate Xmas and have again presents | |

| Oh im sure you will have fun, its just not very christmasy thats all. you can do that sort of thing for New Years or any time of the year, christmas is only once a year, a chance to get together with your family, friends, loved ones to share a nice meal and perhaps get a few pressies. Does your family not do the traditional christmas stuff?? | |

The winter solstice ( there is also the summer solstice) is the day with the shortest day of the year( or the longest day for summer) I mean shortest for the time when the sun is shining
